Complicated dream

My ten year old daughter joined mom and dad at the dining table for breakfast. Looking so tired, she shared that she had a very complicated dream. Mom asked what the complicated dream was about

but she answered yet again that it is complicated.

Her dad, amused with the complicated reply asked her one more and said, “ Tell me about it. I understand complicated. I married your mom and she is the most complicated thing in this world!

Calculator

Coming home late again from work, I caught Chloe serious with her homework.

Lo and behold, of all subjects she was having problems with, Math…. A subject my Einstein brain failed to figure out.

Not to appear unsupportive of her school work, I pretended with so much difficulty to assist her in the division of 4 places.

Exhausted that she could not get the pretend solution I was teaching her, I flipped open my mobile phone and said, “Here, use the calculator to compute!”

Frantic she said, “Ma, teacher said we can’t use a calculator!”

The Einstein mother in me replied, “Don’t worry, I wont tell your teacher!”

Hot ba kamo?!

Chloe with full excitement tried on the leather jacket her dad would wear whenever he goes for out of town or night motorcycle rides.

She was so engrossed with the leather jacket that she failed to hear her dad's initial request to heat up his big mug of coffee.

Her dad repeated the instruction, this time his voice was louder to make sure Chloe heard it.

Teasing that the leather jacket made her look hot, she took the mug, held it with both hands and said " ok dad, my hotness made this coffee hot".

Finding her comment both amusing and irritating, her dad replied, " hot ba kamo? ok, feel both my hands on your face so you would feel hotter!"

Alter ego

Most of my students from batch 2003 onwards have interacted with my son, one way or another.

One afternoon in early July 2006, an officially enrolled student in my radio tv performance class was so engrossed talking to my 10yo son, who was then in grade 5.

As I approached them, my student stood up, and tried to explain why he has been absent for 4 consecutive meetings.

My natural reaction was, of course, “please see me in my office”.

Upon hearing this, my son said, “It’s alright mom, he has explained everything to me”.

That explains it!

Opening up a Massage shop has added stress to my muscles making me take neurologist-prescribed muscle relaxant pills.

Over brunch with my kids, Chloe asked, “Ma, why is daddy in a bad mood? It is so strange.

I had to explain that her dad dreamt of eating chocolate and was so frustrated when he couldn’t find the two pieces Cadbury.

Chloe then replied,”Oh, that explains it”.

She continued inquiring, “But why is mommy so cheerful?”

Trying hard to hide his laugh, my only son answered” Mom is under medication.”

Chloe now laughing and looking at me, held, “Oh, that explains it!”
